Getting Ready for the Holidays!

I love getting ready for the holidays.  It is the most beautiful time of the year.  This year I’m pretty much done with Christmas shopping!  I can’t believe I can say that.

Don’t get me wrong I still have a lot to do.   Not to mention working full time outside the house.   I’m also helping do calligraphy for a wedding so my time is limited.

I just wanted to write a quick post about this time of year.  It can be a crazy time and with so many deals available it can be overwhelming.     Here are my tips for not getting overwhelmed.

1.  Remember my motto:  There will always be another deal tomorrow!    If you are like me and finally find the time to organize your coupons and get ready to go to Walmart, Target or Giant and find out that the little one needs a nap.  Don’t sweat it.  You might be able to go again later but if not, tomorrow will be more deals.  I admit there are times I get frustrated too.

2.    If you feel overwhelmed about the deals available and you are over your budget think about birthdays and other occasions too.    For example:  Sephora has had some great deals recently including xx/xx coupons and so has Bath and Body works.  Check out Frugal Friends post about great coupons to use! I thought I’m done with that shopping but I realized that there are birthdays and my family likes those products.  So, think about future birthdays on your list.  That way you can get the deal now.

3.  Wrap a couple presents each night.  I grew up with presents under the tree the whole season.  It was so much fun to look at the tree and see different size presents sitting there.   Each night I will wrap a couple presents.  This helps me not be overwhelmed at the last minute.   Now, I do admit you have to teach the little ones that paws are off limits! It is a learning lesson for everyone.  Patience on both sides!

4.  Find a day to bake with everyone.   This weekend we plan on baking treats and we are going to make it a baking day.  That way we can relax eat some treats and enjoy the season.
