Safeway Home Delivery and Giveway!

Sign up for my Giveway!  2- $25 gift cards to Safeway or Von stores!  Ends January 30, 2011!

Here is a picture of just some of what I purchased for only $56!   I got free delivery and $15 off my first order – Share15 – is Free shipping on your first order and $15 off your purchase. In addition, I purchased all of the sale items and used the electronic coupons that you can download right to your card, just like I mentioned in my earlier post.

Here is a list of what I purchased but note that not all of the “coupon” prices are listed.  That is one thing I came out of this is, you don’t know if the electronic coupons come off until the groceries are received and you have the “actual” receipt.    My suggestion is to focus more on the sale items and think carefully about using the electronic coupons just because you won’t know if they worked until after they are delivered.   My grand told was around $56.

I had 1 substitution for the frozen food meal and the Orange juice was out.

I will definitely use this service again.  No question!  Even for the price of $6.95 for the 4 hour window it is well worth it since I don’t have to go to the store, and I still get the sale items!

Giveaway! 3 Winners of 2 – $25 Safeway Gift Cards (Dominick´s, Tom Thumb, Randalls, Vons, and Genuardi’s)

Several weeks ago, I was contacted by a Safeway rep to try out Safeway’s Home Delivery.  What a blessing!

As most of my friends and family know I’m currently pregnant with twins and I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter.  Lately, life has been a little crazy.  I’m currently 28 weeks pregnant and everything is going very well, but carrying twins is pretty exhausting and everything seems to take a lot longer.  This is a very different pregnancy then when I had my daughter.

Tonight, I made my decision to try out Safeway’s Home Delivery and see what it was all about.   My delivery will occur tomorrow so I will include an update then.

This is what I learned:

1.  Load digital coupons to your Safeway card at before you start to shop.

2.  You won’t be able to use manufacture coupons per the FAQ site.

3.  You will get all of the deals that Safeway offers in their ad.  Study up on the ad.

4.  I suggest shopping for the sale items, which is a perfect way to stock up.

5.  It was easy to search for any item.  This made it so much easier because I could pick out everything I wanted easily instead of walking the aisles trying to find them.  Besides no standing in line!

6. Search for Codes to use when you check out.  Share15 – is Free shipping on your first order and $15 off your purchase.

7.  The minimum purchase is $50 after coupons and savings.  Even though to me this is high, I definitely consider this a good way to stock up on cheap items.

For my time they gave me 2-$25 gift cards that I can use at my local Safeway. In addition, they gave me 6-$25 gift cards to give away to my readers.   Gift cards currently can’t be used for Home delivery but can be used at the store.

Would you like to win 2 – $25 Safeway gift card? The gift card is also valid at Dominick´s, Tom Thumb, Randalls, Vons, and Genuardis!

I will select not just 1 but 3 winners!   This giveaway ends on January 30, 2011!

Leave me a comment and share if you have ever used a Von’s brand Home Delivery and what you like and dislike about it or why you would or wouldn’t use it.

I was compensated for my time and expense with 2 – $25 gift cards to use at my local Safeway but my opinion is my opinion.

Safeway is having a great deal right now on Buy 8, Save $4 Promotion through 6/15/10.

Make sure you take a copy of the SafeWay coupon policy with you, I noticed that it was updated today 6/7/10.

My friend pointed out some great deals she found for this promotion.

Used 2 $3/3 peelies, plus one .55/1 doubled IP

Used 1 .80/2 IP doubled

4 SoBe Lifewater (favorite flavor is Fuji Apple Pear)

Used 2 BOGO IPs

Also, I had brought a bunch of $1/2 General Mills Qs, but ended up instead using those AWESOME peelies that I found on Honey Nut Cheerios for $3/3 Cheerios of any kind (included Frosted, Chocolate, Honey Nut, Original, etc.)

Safeway Shopping Trip 2/15/10

Wow!  Thanks to for this awesome trip to Safeway yesterday.  She mentioned that there was a $15 off a $100 coupon in the Sunday 2/14/10 Washington Post which expires on 2/22/10!  Run to your recycling bins to pick it up.

I know spending at least $100 is way above my budget each week but last week I didn’t go to the store so I was hoping I could get it to less than $80.

Note:  I was rushing to get everything put away so my daughter helped me put everything on her table.  She is a great helper!

Drum roll please….

Club card savings $92.45 (includes Safeway coupons and the $15 off $100 purchase + ecoupons)

Coupon savings $12.70  (only manuf. coupons + doubling )

Total Savings Value 59% $112.48

Total cost $80.45

My goal was to get some of the deals she mentioned in her post but unfortunately the store was out of a lot of items including the Cookie Mixes and Raisin Bran cereal.  Today is the last day of this sale.

Here are some other things to keep in mind.   Gina mentioned the $2 off a $10 Ranchers meat coupon, note you can print this coupon off or have it on your Safeway club card like an e-coupon. I had it as an e-coupon.  Unfortunately my dear hubby bought 2 of the best cuts he could find and they were $9.49, and I didn’t notice, duh!  If I had reached $10 it would have been about $8.  Even though I missed that coupon it still wasn’t bad at all!   I now have 2 large chuck roasts for dinner!  Now, what to make?

You can print a coupon for $2 off any $10 Ranchers Reserve Beef purchase at This week, Boneless Beef Chuck Roast, Shoulder Roast, and Round Tip Roast is all $1.99/lb.

I bought some Jenni o Ground Turkey at $4.99 B1G1 = $2.49 each.  Not bad for high quality ground turkey.  Perfect for yummy turkey burgers this week.  Freeze one for next week!

The Yoplait Fiber one yogurt came out to be a moneymaker because I had a manf. coupon ($1.00/1) and 2 e-coupons ($1.00 each).  I just bought 1 and I got $3.00 off my bill!

YoPlus Yogurt is on sale for $2.00. There was a $1.00 off coupon in the 2/7 insert or you can print this one.

One bummer is I didn’t get the Catalina coupon for the Kleenex.  The machine looked to be broken – note:  red and green lights were blinking!  I don’t think it is worth it to call the Catalina company for a $1.00 coupon, do you?  On the upside/downside on my receipt which is hard to understand, looks like the cashier may have scanned the Safeway coupon twice because I have 2 lines that say:    CPN Kleenex Facial $2.00-   Oops!  4@$1.50 Kleenex $6 – $2 – $2 – $1/4 manufacture coupon= $1 for 4 boxes!  That oops makes it $1 for 4 boxes.  Ok, never mind, I won’t call the Catalina company.

Kleenex Tissue is $1.00/box when you buy 4 using the in-ad SuperCoupon. Use the $1.00/4 coupon from the 1/3 insert, and you’ll also get a $1.00 Catalina coupon for buying 4. That makes them .50/box.

If are looking for a filler at Safeway I strongly suggest getting some Safeway unbleached flour i.e. healthy then regular flour and it is only $1.59 for 5 lbs!

If you like to bake and to have some supplies on hand Knox 5 single packs of plain gelatin are $1.69

I also stocked up on tuna and I didn’t see any signs in the aisle about the limit 6 so I bought 10 and used 2 – $.75 coupons.   I’m good on tuna for a while!

Bumblebee Solid White Tuna is .88/can, limit 6. You can print a coupon for $1.00/5 by registering here. This makes them only .68/can, a great stock-up price.

Safeway Shopping Trip 11/21/2009 Saved 60%!!

safewayLogoWow!  I’m impressed. This trip took me about an hour.  I was new to the store so I had to learn the aisles.

I also asked the store manager a couple questions before I began shopping.

1.  For safeway coupons that state to use you need to have a $20 “purchase” does that mean I have to purchase $20 before I can use the coupons?  YES

2. If I purchase just the items that qualify for the Safeway coupons and they equal over $20 does that qualify?   NO

3.  Can I use the $5 Home for Holidays immediately on another transaction?  YES

Home for the Holiday Promotion

4 Bisquick 10.00 ($.60 off coupons, 4 doubled, plus $.60  e-coupons
2 BC Frosting 3.00 ($.50 off coupons, 2 doubled, plus $.50 e-coupons
4 BC Cookie Mix 6.00 ($.40 off coupons 4 doubled, plus $.40 e-coupons
1 Nestle Toll House Chips 2.00 (1.00 off Safeway catalina found in cart!)
2 Hefty Foam Plates 3.00 ($1.50/2 off coupon)
2 ICBINB Light Tubs $3.98 ($1.00/2 off coupon)

Before coupons $27.98 after coupons $12.98 so after the $5 catalina = $7.98 for the above!
(They were out of the $1.99 ICBINB sticks.  Bummer!  I bought the ICBINB tubs to get me over $25 and then I realized I found that $1.00 off Nestle Toll House chips and $1.00 for chips is pretty good! The best part is I got the white chips!  Yummy!)

Besides the Home for the Holiday promotion I got a couple other things.  Check out these deals!

2 Gallon Milks $6.78  (Not the best price but I needed milk and it doesn’t make sense to drive farther for cheap milk.)

1 dozen eggs $1.79

1 celery $1.50

3 A&W Rootbeer = $.99 (Special ended 11/21/09)

1 Rapid Rise Fleshmans yeast $1.50 ($.40 off coupon, 1 double)  Got back a $.50 Catalina!  After coupons and catalina = $0.20!!

1 Huggies Overnights $9.99 (Safeway coupon $7.99 after spending $20 min. purchase, $2.00 mailer Huggies  coupon for overnights, $2.00 e-coupons, $1.50 Safeway e-coupons) After coupons = $2.49!!

After all said and done!

OOP= $28.58  + $5 cat and a $.50 cat

Safeway Possibly Cheap Diapers 11/15-11/21

Quick update!  I did this deal and used the e-coupons on Shortcuts and ( and only bought 1 pack of overnights.  It came out to $2.95! Look out for these coupons in the future.

I’m a newbie to shopping at Safeway.  Now, I’m not sure how this works so this is a suggestion.

Today, I learned that Safeway has a coupon in their 11/15 insert for $7.99 Huggies or Pampers Jumbo pack diapers (without the coupon they are $9.99) and the limit is 4.  It states on the coupon that you have to spend at least $20 to use “all” of the coupons on the page.

Linked from

From what I’ve learned at Safeway you can load manufacture coupons on to your Safeway card PLUS you can use a paper manufacture coupon, and with the Safeway coupon this can be a great deal!  This is called “stacking” coupons.

Frugal in Virginia mentions some Cell Fire coupons that you can load onto your Safeway card.  There is a 2/$3 Huggies coupon available!

Plus, there are some $1, $2 and even $3 Huggies coupons (for specific types of Huggies so check the coupons).

My guess is if you can use the $3 Huggies Naturals and the Cell Fire coupon you can get 3 packs of Huggies for about $11.97 that is $3.99 a pack!  Wow! Since I need size 6 diapers and usually Naturals only come in size 5, I would use the $1 or $2 coupons so that would make it $18.97 or $6.32 a pack.  Still not bad!

Any thoughts or suggestions?  I’m tempted to get some.
