Shoppers Food Shopping Trip 11/15/09

My plan was to stop at Shoppers to pick up some double deal newspapers.  Unfortunately, they didn't have any.  I then picked up an extra Washington Post for $1.50.  I was hoping they would be on discount but apparently they don't discount them anymore. Since I was there and I had my $15 worth of catalina coupons from my previous trip with me and I thought I would get some basics for Thanksgiving coming up.  We seem to have plenty of food for the next week or so.  See my post about my husband's Aldi trip HERE. Understanding Being Frugal – Aldi Shopping Trip 11/11/09

My dear wonderful husband went to Aldi last week for me. I asked him to pick up a gallon of milk and to check on the cost of butter.  During the holiday season butter usually goes on sale and my price point is under $2 (4 sticks 1lb).   He said no problem will be happy to do that.  I wanted at least 4 lbs if it is under $2. I got home later that evening to discover that he bought milk for $2.29, 4 lbs of butter for $1.69 each,  and lots of other things!  I was happy that he found some good deals like 10 bottles of Winking Owl wine for $2.99 each.  We will enjoy that.  And, he picked up some snacks for lunches but at the end…

CVS Savings Week#2 I’m going to look at easy transactions that will include coupons that you can get in our local papers or online.   Always check your coupons because every region gets different amount coupons and that changes the transaction. Shoppers Food Shopping Trip 11/7/2009

Wow!  I did it.  I went to Shoppers this evening.  I can't believe it is 8:33 PM as I start writing this.  I treated the family to Ci-Ci's pizza for dinner.  What a treat!  I know it is high calories but it sure is good.  Afterward, the three of us went to Shoppers.  My hubby is a trooper so is my little girl. I'm definitely not a pro like MoneyWiseMoms, Redemption Unlimited Girls and FrugalFriends!  They know exactly what they are doing. Now a couple things I learned!  Going with my family was good because it was a family affair but it did take longer then I expected.   As I always say, make sure you have a game plan before going.   I was so excited that I could get to Shoppers…

Wow! Here is the scoop on the Triple Event at Shoppers Food! Thanks to FrugalFriends for discovering this event!  Laura did an amazing job and got 99% savings!  I haven't heard of such a thing.  Looks like she got some overage on her purchases.  This will vary by store and cashier I believe. I'm trying to think of a catchy phrase for this.  Get more for less at CVS?   Sounds more like a Target slogan.   Get the Bucks at CVS?   I don't know.  Silly right?  Leave me a comment with a suggestion. I used my CVS ECBs last week for some items I needed so now I'm going to start fresh this week.   I've been shopping at CVS now for over a year and I wouldn't say I'm a pro at this but I'm learned a lot over this year and the way to really save money is not to spend much at all!  Easy right?!  This means  SMALL transactions.   It means not buying everything on sale. Looking carefully in my last week's ad section I noticed a good deal on the Washington Post for new subscribers and who have not been a Post subscriber for the past 30 days. 26 weeks of $.59 Sundays or $1.11 7 days.   That's a 62% savings for Sunday only. Reply by December 31, 2009. Click HERE for more information. For current subscribers I strongly suggest calling Washington Post and asking them if there any good deals available this time of year and see what they say.  If there aren't any then cancel your subscription and pick up a Double Deal instead.
