Sunday Washington Post Cost increased to $2

This weekend I stopped at Bottom Dollar Food to get some groceries which I will write a post about later.

When I got there I planned to picking up an additional copy of the Washington Post.  However, the cost is $2!  Wow!   I was surprised.  I wasn’t sure if it was the store or the the paper.  They had a double deal sitting there so I lucked out and picked that up.  It turned out to be $3!

Here is an article about the change in price for the Sunday Washington Post.

Effective Dec. 13, the newsstand price for its Sunday paper will go from $1.50 to $2 in Washington.

I now need to check my bill and find out how much they are charging me for home delivery.   I might have to cancel and pick up the paper if the cost is more than that.

I might even start thinking of ordering inserts online.   What do you think?

What paper do you pick up?

  • I was just thinking about a coupon clipping service. In fact, I had someone ask me about it. I’ll send you more info about it and maybe we can try it out and then write a post about it. Or write a post to see what others use! The real trick for me is can I get the coupons or inserts for less then I would spend on a paper or two or three? Challenge!

I checked my bill and I’m still being charged the $1.50 + tip per week. Phew! Not sure how long that will last.

I’m heading to my location that has some Fairfax Times so I hope to get some today. I got a couple yesterday.

  • Yikes, that’s a 33% price hike!
I’m going to sign up for the $0.59 Washington Post Sunday delivery offer before the year ends. Thanks for posting about it on your post here.
Other than that, I’ll be stocking up on extra free copies of the Fairfax Times.
I know Stephanie from Nova Thrifty mentioned that she has used a coupon clipping service online for big Super Doubles & Triples Coupon events (see her post here) but I’ve personally never tried it.
