My Laundry Schedule

My Laundry Schedule

Cleaning, DIY
(Update 2018:  We still do this laundry system. It works really well for us.  That is saying something for 5 years!)   Back in 2012, I asked about how others did their laundry and heard several different responses.  In December 2013,  I asked my friends on Facebook how they handle all of their laundry and the responses got me on a mission.   I had to figure out a new system for my family. Step 1:    I got everyone in my family a laundry hamper that fits ONLY 1 X-large load of laundry.   This is key!  If the hamper is too big then the loads get overwhelming.  If they are too small then it just seems like a waste of water and time.   The Jall hampers from IKEA…

Dollar Tree: XXL Bulk Stor It Bag for $1

Cleaning, DIY, Dollar Tree, Organization 2014, Uncategorized
I've been working around the house to re-organize as my 2014 goal.  I have to share this.   I've been going to a couple different Dollar Tree stores and finding some great products to help.  I found this XXL Bulk Stor It Bag.   You can see here it is pretty big.  I have it next to a regular gallon Hefty bag in the picture above.  This is holding my extra slip cover for my Ektorp sofa.  I can then store it under the sofa perfectly.   The best part is this seems to seal better than the Space Bags that easily cost $2-$4 each.  This is only $1!   Imagine all of the other things you can store in these type of bags.

April 2013 - As I was working on cleaning up the kitchen last week, I was thinking about the fact I was getting low on dishwasher detergent and needed to find some good deals.    I just haven't seen or heard of any recently.     In addition, I've become very interested in using healthy products in the home such as Shaklee Basic H2.     I did some simple searches and found several websites offering their recipes for Homemade Dishwasher Detergent including DIYnatural.com .   This got me very excited because I have most of the ingredients at home!  Not only would this be healthy but also cheap!   Now the question was would this really work??? From Homemade Dishwasher Detergent including DIYnatural.com: Soap recipe 1 cup borax 1 cup washing soda 1/2 cup…

We had a huge playdate at our house that was a bit larger then I was planning for so I quickly had my daughter and I clean as much as we could. I ended up filling up a basket of items from our dining room and put them in the upstairs guest room and papers were put back into the office. My half organized office is back to piles again. :( I had my daughter help me…

Spring Into Organization 2012: Laundry Room

general, Organization 2012, Uncategorized
After reading and admiring so many awesome laundry room posts I had to jump in and organize my laundry room. Here are some before pictures. Yes, there is dirty laundry on the floor and clean laundry hanging up. We are human! Our house was built in 1980 and surprisingly they designed the house with some features we see in houses today like the laundry room on the second floor and 5 walk-in closets. Isn't that unheard of for that year? Be jealous! This house has lots of storage which is a great! I'm so fortunate! However, it can be a bad thing. Good thing because I can get organized, but it has been a bad thing because I haven't the rooms and closets are messy and disorganized. Now it is…

Spring Into Organization 2012: Cleaning Up Our Message Board

DIY, Organization 2012, Uncategorized
Wow!  This is what our message center looks like?  I had to do something about this. After having twins last year, my life honestly has been insane!   It has been a huge adjustment not only on me but my daughter (Doodle) too because I went from being an outside the home working Mom to staying at home full-time.    Organization 2012 is now my mission. Over a week ago I came across Laura from Orgjunkie.org's post about Spring Into Organization.  I've become addicted looking at some of these posts.  I've already started on organizing my laundry room,  my family room desk, and changing table. The best part being some of the ideas are so simple you can do it in an hour or a couple hours!  Plus, some of them like…

Organization 2012

crafts, DIY, Organization 2012, Uncategorized
Organization 2012 My husband and I were talking about goals that we have for ourselves this year.  Our kids are young so just having a good time while they are little is important to us.    This means we need to be better about organization. Organization is constant with my 3 year old. Don't forget I have identical twin boys that are starting to crawl.  Babyproofing is never ending!   I've learned that if one system doesn't work right now, there will be another system that does work.  I'm still trying to figure out the right methods to get laundry done but I will find it!   I'll be talking about that too. This month I wanted to talk about kids crafts.   I love crafts.  We have everything to do crafts…

DIYPlanner.com – Check it out! Get Organized for 2010!

DIY, Financial, Uncategorized
Organization is a never ending battle.  No matter what life throws at you, you will be disorganized at one time or another.  There have been times I have been so organized it felt great, but life does happen and that planner gets left at home, or the monthly to-do list gets misplaced on the kitchen table with the mail.  Now, that I'm a working outside the home Mom, being organized is a dream!  Even in my About Me I mention my struggle with organization - "I hope as time goes by I will have the opportunity to learn to organize my time better and post deals as well as shopping trips." I was a Day-Timer fan for years.  I still have a place in my heart for the Day-Timer concept,…
