CVS Shopping Trip 6/13/10

Again and again I go to CVS and I’m amazed at how much I can get for so little!   I try really hard to lower my out of pocket and in this case my out of pocket is a little bit more then I wanted but I came out ahead at the end.

On the right hand side of the photo, I got the free Extra Care bucks $2 ECB just for scanning my card and it expires 7/13/10.

This is the amazing deal!   Old Spice is currently $4 right now and you will get $4 ECB limit 1.  However, when I did this by buying 2  and using the B1G1 coupon in the P&G 6/5/10 I got back $8 ECBs!   Woohoo!   Sorry, I don’t have both in the picture.  That makes it a $4 profit!

Buy 2 Old Spice Body Washes – I bought the After Hours  $4 each = $8
Use one of the coupons:
FREE Old Spice Body Wash wyb Body Wash or Deodorant (P&G 5/2/10)
FREE Old Spice Body Wash wyb Body Wash or Deodorant (P&G 6/6/10)

This is the transaction I did:

I used a $5/$30 coupon I got in my email.

-$3/2 printable coupon here
=.29 cents for two after coupon!

Gillette or Old Spice Body Wash $4 Earn 4 ECBs Limit 1
-B1G1 Gillette Body Wash, exp. 7-31-10 (P&G 06/06/10)
-FREE Old Spice Deodorant wyb Body Wash or Deodorant (P&G 6/6/10)
=2 FREE products after coupon and ECBs!  See more info above.

I didn’t have any ECBs left since I bought so many diapers and baby products that were 75% off so I actually spent some money.  I spent $16.86 and I got back $17 in ECBs!  That made my trip a profit of $.14! Not bad.

The reason I bought new born diapers is actually for my daughter to play with them.  My daughter recently turned 2 and is in love with her new baby doll that Grammy bought her so she wants to put her big size 6 diapers on the baby doll and explains to my husband and I what the baby doll does in the diaper.   I’m thinking this might help her understand that she doesn’t need diapers anymore.  We will see.  She did go potty once this weekend!

CVS Trip 5/28/10

How do moms do it?    I’m a mom of one child and I still don’t know how moms do it.   Dare, I say that I took my toddler to CVS today for a quick run!  I got out of there as fast as I could but she wanted to “play”. I have to admit it is fun to look around at CVS but keeping a toddler under control is tough.  My daughter loved the CVS coupon machine so that worked out for a minute then she decided to run around and try and open everything she could get her hands on.  It was tough.

I had 2 coupons that expired this week a $2 ECB and a $3 CVS coupon on any purchase.   I was so bummed out.  I decided to go in and ask nicely if they would allow me to use the coupons even though they expired.  I was nearby and thought I could try.  The cashier was sooooooo nice!  She said, “No problem because they expired this week.” I have to admit the ECB was with my “Nana’s card” and the coupon was with my card.

Lesson 1:   If an ECB expires this week then ask the cashier (before you shop) if you can use it.  You never know they might let you.

Lesson 2Try not to let your ECBs expire.  Write them down on your calendar or in an email calendar so it can send you reminders.

I bought with Nana’s card the following:

1 pack of Huggies Swim diapers which rang up for $6.99!   I didn’t realize that they were on sale.   I then used the $1.50 IP coupon and then $2 CVS coupon and last but not least the $2 expired ECB.  I paid $1.49!   Wow!

I bought with my card the following:

I had a coupon for $3 off a $3 purchase that expired and I picked up some CVS baby wipes  (easy when you are next to them in the store and the toddler is running around) that were discounted to $3.96.  Perfect spend $.96 right?!  However, it rang up for $2.67!   So, the wonderful cashier said that she could push it to $2.67!  Perfect!  I paid!  $0.00  Gosh, I love that CVS!

My daughter at that point in time found the CVS candy and bubble gum containers and I was telling her to put them back.  *sigh*   I think I grew a couple more gray hairs.   Tell me what do you do with your toddler when you go to CVS?  Do you take him or her?  Or do you leave them with a babysitter/Daddy? I told my husband this is why Moms run errands when Daddy can watch them.  He doesn’t believe me.

Lesson 3:  Find a babysitter!

I used a $5/$30 coupon.

I ran into RiteAid after my CVS trip and got the following items.  I don’t have everything pictured.  Still pretty good deals.  I used the $20 Rite Aid coupon from the Zyrtec deals I did a month ago.  I spent OOP $9.49.

  • 1 Mega Pack Diapers Clearance = $6.99
  • Rite Aid Pants on Clearance = $4.99

Yesterday, I went to RiteAid and did the diaper deal that I mentioned.    I didn’t have any of the wipes coupons so I instead just bought diapers.   I didn’t take a picture because I put them away before I got my act together and took my pictures.

Today, I asked my hubby if I could run into RiteAid since it dawned on me that the wipes are on sale $2/$5 and I have these high value coupons just sitting there.   I spent $6.38 for 9 packages of wipes that is $.71 a piece.  Not bad at all!

Used a $5/20 Adperks coupon.

I wanted to share some of the deals I grabbed at Walmart today.

  • Bic pens for FREE,
  • 2 Nivea body washes for FREE $3.97 and used the $4/1 coupon,
  • M&Ms bags for $1.67 a piece after using a B2G1 coupon from 5/2 RP, and
  • 2 Cetaphil products after using my $2 off any product IP coupons.   The Cetaphil products even came with 2 more $2 coupons exp in 2011.  The moisturizer SPF15 $8.97 – $2 = $6.97 and the SPF 50 $12.97 – $2 = $10.97.
  • 1 Sidewalk caulk for $1 – Finding creative cheap ways to play outside.

Shoppers Trip 05/08/10 and CVS Trip 05/08/10

I can’t believe it is Wednesday already the weekend went by so fast.  I’d been trying to get these pictures downloaded so I could show off my shopping trips and now I can.

Back when they had the Shopper’s Promotion I was trying to decide when I should use the 2 $5 catalinas.  This weekend was when they were to expire so on Saturday I went in and got all of this after using the catalinas it came to under $3!  Not bad.  We had a funny picnic on Sunday in the garage eating salad.  Will be making salads tomorrow night.

I’m excited to say that I got to do the Nivea deal more than once.  This is my favorite body wash.  I’m so glad I got introduced to it a while back when CVS had a buy 1 get 100% ECBs back to make it free.  My skin has been less dry and I haven’t had to use that many lotions.   Now I have a supply that will last me for a long time.   If I ever get any more body washes it is for gifts or donations.   Plus, the Nivea Lip Moisture is a new favorite of mine too.  I left one of them in the car, which is why it isn’t in the picture.  Everything in the above picture cost me under $3.

Walmart Deals – Babyganics, Discount Baby clothes and White Towels

On Mother’s Day I went to CVS and Walmart with the family.  We got errands done and after nap-time we had a great time at the park.

I hadn’t heard of Babyganics before and I noticed it on this shelf at my Walmart for $5 and I confirmed that the Stain Stain Go Away is $5 and the All Purpose Cleaner is $3.50 PLUS they come with a Buy One Get One For FREE coupon on the bottle expires 12/31/10.    So in two transactions I did 2 Stain Stain Go Away for $5 (that is $2.50 each) and 2 All Purpose clean for $3.50 (that is $1.25 each).  Not a bad price for organic cleaners!  I can’t wait to try them out.

It seems there are a lot of red stickers all over my Walmart so check it out.  I found these kids clothes including t-shirts, shorts and leggings for $2 or less.

I’m a huge fan of washcloths because you can use them for just about anything.  Walmart’s price has “roll back” the price.  It used to be $5 and now it’s $4 for 18.  I use them to clean my daughter’s hand and face after she eats, use them to clean up the bathroom, use them to wash/dust the car, and so much more.

Crazy week and Giant Shopping Trip 4/21/10

This week has been a crazy week. A lot has been going on and I haven’t been as good about posting good deals. I’m hoping after tomorrow when the weekend starts I can start getting organized, clean the family room, office, and of course laundry. I’m really behind on laundry and haven’t been doing my routine.  Honestly, working full-time is tough because I’m always behind.  In the evenings after my daughter goes to bed, all I want to do is the essentials and go to bed. I’m exhausted!

This weekend I plan on cleaning up and going to the grocery store might go to Bottom Dollar to use my $10 off a $40 purchase.

Check out what my hubby got at Giant yesterday?   A bag of fruit including apples, mango and orange and guess what he paid?  $1  That’s right!

In addition, he got several bags of potatoes for $1 each.  We just had some mashed potatoes.  Yummy!  Love my frugal hubby.  He found these on a stand near the produce and they said “Not the best but still a good buy”.

Wow! Lots of Fabric I purchased at Joann Fabric Closing Burke VA

Have I mentioned that I really like fabric?   Well, I really do.  It’s crazy I know.  I have a very good stockpile of all sorts of fabrics in particular quilting cottons.

My hubby called me to tell me about the Burke Joann Store was closing in order to move to a bigger store in Fairfax.  He said most of the fabrics were 50% to 75% and in addition they still did the sale price from the circular.   In some cases that makes it 85% to 95% off!   When I got there he had 30+ bolts of fabric ready to purchase.  I then purchase 12 more! When it rang up it was $280+ and after the discounts it came to $80+!  I can’t believe it.  Of course I don’t know exactly how much my hubby spent but, he spent quite a bit.  We added it up and it is worth well over $1000!  My hubby was funny because this will definitely be my birthday gifts and probably Christmas gifts too.  Surprise!

I’m such a nut.  I might go again tomorrow morning.

Some of the types of fabric I purchased:

  • flannels
  • cottons
  • home decor cottons
  • suiting

See my daughter having a blast organizing it!  Now where to store it.  We were thinking of all of the fun projects to make with it.  I can easily see more than $1000 worth of projects and crafts we can come up with it.

Any ideas?
