Getting things done

DIY, general, Sewing, Uncategorized
This weekend has been a busy weekend.  After buying lots of fabric on Friday and even Saturday!  Yes, I went back and bought more.  I went WAY over my budget, but I have fabric to last me years and years.  Just like everything else I try not to ever buy my fabric at retail prices.  I bought loads of fabric a couple years ago when Hancock fabrics closed several of their stores in the area. That inspired me to work on some of my UFOs = Un-Finished Objects on Sunday.  My husband watched my daughter while I did some of them.  Then we all worked on organizing our office.  Perfect spring cleaning. Getting Things Done My goal for this year is to list out all the things that need to…

How to make a Stocking?

DIY, Sewing
I guess you can say I've always been frugal in some way or another.   I might not have used coupons as much as I do now and I didn't always reach for the lowest out of pocket expense but I loved to make crafts with scrap fabrics.  Did I mention that I like to quilt?   I haven't had much time since I have a little girl, but I do love to sew. You may have seen my post on - How to make a Baby Bib? A super easy project that you can make in about 15 minutes as long as all of your supplies are in reach. Today, I'm going to show you how to make a pretty stocking right before you need to set them up for  tomorrow…

This week is a busy week for me.  My daughter was diagnosed with a double ear infection.  She is feeling a lot better. Good news is, it's the Sewing Expo this week!  Woohoo!   Yesterday, I learned about the serger and how to create some beautiful stitches with it.  I also learned about fusible web.  I've worked with fusible stabalizers but haven't tried the fusible web before.  It is great because it doesn't melt as quickly as other brands do. Plus, this weekend is my anniversary weekend! 7 years ago I married the most wonderful gentleman in the world.  I'm so blessed to have him in my life,  he loves, cares, and supports me and our little girl.  I love him always and forever. Besides, he uses coupons when going shopping!  …

How to Make a Baby Bib? Easy project!

Baby, Sewing, Uncategorized
How to make a baby bib? This is a super easy project that you can create in less than 15 minutes. Select some fabric and create a simple template. I created this template using freezer paper. You can then iron on the freezer paper template to the fabric with a low setting on your iron. Then you can easily cut out the fabric without pinning. Either cut out 2 templates or do as I did and fold the fabric and then cut out 2 at one time. Then sew the two pieces right sides together. Leave a little bit open so you can turn it right side out. Then attach some velcro to the ends, either by sewing or using fusible agent. I recommend Bo-Nash Fusible 007.

How to Make a Swim Diaper?

Baby, Sewing, Uncategorized
I've been thinking about for the last month.  Can I make a swim diaper for my daughter?  I love to sew but haven't had much time recently.  Now, that I have a project on my mind I have to find some time to do it.  But, first I need a pattern.  After searching and searching online I finally found a pattern. Thanks to Kayla's Cloth Kits there is a .pdf file that you can download and plus her website has a video you can watch here!
